Position: Service Specialist Intern

Position Summary

The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership, led by Senator Raymond Lesniak, is seeking a motivated Service Specialist Intern to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, networking, and proficiency in Google Suite. This role involves maintaining communication with local community and educational organizations, assisting in the planning and execution of events and service projects, and managing databases and email campaigns. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit management.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including professional emailing
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of current events and politics is preferred but not mandatory

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing events and service projects
  • Develop and create advocacy training content
  • Assist the Executive Director with a variety of tasks, including research, writing, and project management
  • Prepare meeting minutes and agendas
  • Communicate with supporters and community leaders through various channels (e.g., phone, email, social media)

The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership, led by former Senator Raymond Lesniak, is seeking a Social Media and Public Relations Specialist Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, analytic and communication skills, along with experience in community outreach and media engagement. Flexibility to attend Institute events is essential. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in nonprofit PR, both online and in-person.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Communication or a related field
  • In-depth understanding of social media platforms and social media trends
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Google Suite 
  • Knowledge of basic AP style rules
  • Proficiency in Canva is preferred
  • Strong interest in the PR and Social Media industry, especially within the nonprofit sector

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and curate engaging content for various platforms
  • Appear on camera for many social media posts
  • Design graphics for social media and promotional materials
  • Build and maintain media lists and databases
  • Coordinate and attend events as a public relations representative
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics and analytics
  • Collaborate closely with our PR & Social Media Specialist to curate content, analyze social media metrics, and develop effective communication strategies

Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Film, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Experience in creating storyboards and writing video scripts
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite (LightRoom, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred
  • Skills in photography and/or videography preferred

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Capture photos and videos at events and for campaigns
  • Create video storyboards and motion graphics
  • Edit video content for various platforms
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics with the social media team to identify and develop effective content ideas
  • Collaborate with the social media team to create engaging content across platforms
  • Provide support to the social media team at live events
